Due to the steep decline in local COVID-19 infections in San Diego County, including Southwestern College’s service area, Southwestern College is updating health guidelines for the 2022 summer session. day were informed by the college reopening group after reviewing the results of the employee/student survey, current federal/state/local guidelines, and case and immunization metrics in the college service area.

From June 6, the first day of the summer session, masks will be strongly recommended, but will no longer be mandatory indoors. Students and employees will still need to be fully immunized (two doses of Pfizer/Moderna, one dose of Johnson & Johnson) to access in-person learning and services. Booster injections will be strongly recommended, not mandatory.

Current health guidelines, such as indoor masks, remain in place until the end of the spring semester.

Visit the San Diego County Vaccine Website to find a vaccination site near you. The college will continue its partnerships to provide vaccines and boosters to students and employees.

Southwestern College management will continue to monitor local COVID-19 data and consult with local public health officials for the fall semester and beyond. If local case rates begin to rise, Southwestern College may reinstate previous health guidelines, including face masks in indoor spaces.
