Households who did not want treats coming to their door were encouraged to turn off their exterior lights or post signs on their doors informing visitors that they are not participating.
The day before Halloween night, 45 local businesses will be handing out candy and other surprises in downtown Skokie Trick-or-Treat.
Music from a DJ is scheduled at the southeast corner of Lincoln Avenue and Oakton Street, with local businesses showcasing more than 300 Halloween-themed posts designed by students at Skokie School District 69.
Official candy bags are available the week of October 25 or the day of the event at Al’s Cycle Shop, Crafty Beaver Home Center, Edward Jones Investments, Indigo Home Remodeling, Law Offices of Naheed Amdani, Mini-Man Monkey Brains, Skokie Chamber of Commerce or Swift Child Care Center, according to an announcement from village staff.
