Paris LGUs asked to enforce Covid health protocols as election campaign period heats up

The Department of Home Affairs and Local Government (DILG) has reminded all Local Government Units (LGUs) and political bets to strictly enforce Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS) to deter the resurgence of Covid-19.

“We call on the LGUs to strictly apply Comelec resolution 10732 which defines the guidelines on the conduct of campaign activities in accordance with the health protocols established by the IATF,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said in a message to the public. journalists.

The head of DILG asked organizers of political rallies to coordinate strictly with the respective LGUs and take note of all health protocols.

“Organizers of political rallies should coordinate with LGUs and law enforcement so that appropriate measures are applied to ensure the safety of participants. The organizers must also ensure that there are safety marshals and health posts in the area,” Año noted.

He also directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) and barangay officials to ensure that all health protocols are followed.

“The PNP and barangay officials, especially the tanods (village security guards) will continue to warn or arrest violators of health protocols,” Ano said.
