MANILA – Aspiring presidential and mayor of Manila Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said on Friday that COVID-19 protocols were followed when leaving his camp in Batangas after the Interior Department said he would investigate possible violations during a political event.

At a press conference, Domagoso said: “They have the right to do whatever they want to do… We have followed all health protocols. Due diligence was carried out by the province of Batangas and the city of Lipa.

In addition to Domagoso’s list, pro-tempore Senate President Ralph Recto, five outgoing Batangas representatives, 21 mayors and around 70 other members of the ONE Batangas coalition attended the event.

Participants were required to undergo swab testing before entering the Claro M. Recto Event Center, a covered venue in Lipa.

At an online event on Friday, Home Secretary Eduardo Año said he would review the reports of a candidate for a national post who recently traveled to Batangas to see if the rules on dress mass gatherings were being violated.

“I recently heard a report in Batangas, that a politician running for national office had gone to Batangas and there was somehow a violation of certain… provisions relating to mass gatherings,” he said. he declares.

Under Secretary Jonathan Malaya, in a separate text message to ABS-CBN News, said they were awaiting the official report from the Philippine National Police on the matter.

Neither Año nor Malaya nominated the candidate. But on Friday morning, Domagoso traveled to Lipa Batangas for the ONE Batangas event.

There he officially won the support of all outgoing Batangas lawmakers and 21 mayors for his presidential bid.

The presidential candidate, Senator Manny Pacquiao, also visited Lipa earlier this week.
