Health supplements for 100 schoolchildren from Setapak PPR
Schoolchildren at PPR Desa Rejang Setapak in Kuala Lumpur received health supplements to highlight the importance of building natural resistance during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative of the health and wellness company Amway Malaysia and the Department of Welfare was also aimed at empowering urban families.
Some 100 children have received nearly 200 Amway Nutrilite health supplements and will continue to receive them for six months.
“As the children have started to return to school and the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination plan for those under 12 has not been finalized, we still need to be vigilant and protect our young people,” said Amway Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, managers. director Mike Duong.
“Even if they are vaccinated, they will still need to strengthen the body’s natural defenses.
“Guided by our vision to help people live better lives, Amway believes in the importance of supporting and making a difference in the life of the community in which we operate.
“Amway has entered into this partnership with the social service to help support the PPR community in an effort to build a healthy society,” he added.
“We are very grateful that Amway Malaysia is supporting the Department of Social Welfare in our efforts to reach out and care for these children, especially during this time when they have to physically go to school,” said the director of the Department of Social Welfare Che Samsuzuki Che Noh.
“We believe that improving children’s immune systems will benefit their overall health,” he said.
The pilot program involved 35 families of PPR Desa Rejang Setapak.
While presenting the health supplements, the Amway team shared the importance of boosting immunity and eating healthier to reduce the risk of infection.
“I thank Amway Malaysia for guiding us to live healthier lives,” said Siti Rozaini Hassan, 39, a mother who received the items.
“This initiative to provide extra protection for our children is really appreciated.
“It’s good to know that people care about us,” she added.
“I was very worried that my child would have to go to school,” said another mother who benefited from the program.
“With this contribution to help boost his immunity, I’m less worried,” said the 39-year-old who wished to be known only as Fazila.
Nutrilite Bio C Plus All Day For-mula and Nutrilite Kids Flavored Gummy with DHA were some of the featured health supplements.
Amway has worked with the Department of Social Welfare since the 1980s.
The company financed a project to build six foster homes in Kuala Selangor.
Over the years, Amway and the Department of Wellness have worked on the One by One program, Projek HeadSTART, and other corporate social responsibility initiatives to reach families in need.
