AFP ensures compliance with health protocols during joint Visayan exercises – Manila bulletin


CEBU CITY – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have assured that health protocols will be strictly adhered to for this year’s joint exercises.

AFP Chief of Staff General Jose Faustino Jr. said Thursday, October 21 that the current COVID-19 pandemic should not prevent AFP from organizing military training and carrying out his mission.

Faustino honored the opening ceremony of the AFP (AJEX) Dagat-Langit-Lupa (DAGIT-PA) Joint Exercises at the Visayan Command (Viscom) Headquarters at Camp Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City.

DAGIT-PA is AFP’s annual unilateral exercise which aims to further strengthen its land, air and sea assets as part of joint interoperability operations.

More than 1,000 active and reserve soldiers will participate in the training, which will run through November.

The training will focus on territorial defense, internal security operations, humanitarian aid and disaster response, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive operations and cyber defense.

To ensure safety, all participants will be tested for COVID-19.

“This is one of our biggest military exercises where we can show not only our military strengths but also the capability of every unit in the Philippine Army, Navy and Air Force,” Faustino said.

Most of the training will take place at Panay and Antique, which are part of the 3rd Visayan Infantry Division.

“Continuing military education and training are essential for AFP. It is through the conduct of training exercises such as the AJEX DAGITPA that we can truly ensure that the skills and abilities of our toops are enhanced and optimized so that they respond quickly to a wide range of requirements. combat and out of combat, ”said Faustino. .
